Southern Europe is largely mixed with Arabic blood. What we think of as Spanish, Italian, even Greek is actually more of a mix of European and Arabic/Semitic genetics. Besides the Muslim invasions of Spain, Greece and Rome had about a 90% slave population, so the modern populations don’t really reflect the original Greeks or Romans (who were more similar to North-Western Europeans). Although northern Italy does have a strong Germanic element.
